Week 16

The toddler won’t stop moving. And the baby won’t sleep.

I’ll leave it at that, for fear that Sunny may dismantle the entire Christmas tree in the time it took me to write this post.

Week 15

This post is behind. While the photos were taken on time, I didn’t get around to editing and processing them until today. Primarily because James and I have turned into nocturnal beings to accommodate Courtland’s new and wildly inconvenient sleep schedule. The kid likes to be awake from 3am-6am. Which is awesome when Sunny awakes at 7:30am. Especially on mornings like today when she not only awakes at that hour, but does so with feces-filled underwear.

Her potty training has regressed since she started school last Monday, so I began my Sunday morning by reenacting Hansel & Gretel, except not with bread crumbs. And Courtland, well, I don’t know why we’re having the sleep regression. I blame the horribly stuffy nose that she’s had for going on 3 weeks. This causes her to wake in fury because she cannot inhale without sounding like a stampede of wild boar.

It’s pretty gnarly around these parts. But we’ve got wicked Christmas cheer to help get us through. And a baby on the brink of rolling over, which makes this series simultaneously harder and more entertaining than ever to capture.

Week 14

Where the HELL did November go? Somehow the baby is about to celebrate her first Thanksgiving and I’m about to consume my weight in pie.

Gobble gobble.

Week 13

Next week I will officially have a two and a half year old and a quarter-year old on my hands. And, very shortly, the two will be sharing a bedroom. This is out of necessity as the baby has rapidly outgrown her bassinet. It’s time to transition her to life in the crib, with big sister snoring nearby.

I’m feeling pretty darn lucky these days. How could I not?

Week 12

Well, we’re dealing with adjusting back to life post-vacation AND Daylight Savings Time. Which means no one’s really sleeping or that happy about it.

But this weekend’s Williams’ Homecoming, so Courtland shall learn the fervor of the Ephs. And Sunny’s Fairy Godparents will be in town. And Courtland’s are always in town. And we’ll have one big ol’ FGP (Fairy Godparent) tailgate. So many a good time shall be had.

Also? These two crack me up. And we’re so close to infant giggles that I’m hiccuping in anticipation. I promise audio visual to mark the milestone.

Behind the Scenes

This is what it looks like as we scramble to get the girls ready each week for the Weekly Growth Series.

Ya know, moments before someone cries. Or poops. Or spits up everywhere.

And I’m not just talking about the girls.

Week 11

So this week we’re a little delayed, a little behind schedule. Actually, there isn’t even a schedule. Our vacation south has totally thrown any semblance of a routine, so we’re slowly trying to get back into the swing of things at home.

Man, I miss the 70 degree air and nightly s’more consumption by an outdoor fire pit.

I wasn’t prepared for snow, let alone a FOOT of the stuff. So figuring out how to manage two little ones AND myself in the freezing white powder is proving a new challenge. A challenge I thought I wouldn’t be confronted with for at least another month or so.

Hey, Courtland, WELCOME TO LIFE IN NEW ENGLAND BABY GIRL!

Week 10

This kid is getting enormous. The difference between Week 1 and now is unbelievable.

I mean, just look at that Mohawk growth!

Week 9

Week 9: The week of the snuffles. Isn’t it fun that the WHOLE family gets to be sick together? We even gave Auntie Kimmy our cold this weekend! We’re that eager to share.

I thought Courtland might suffocate every time she breastfed. But we all survived and are on the mend. Woo-choo!

Week 8

This week we smiled a lot. We yelled a lot. We went on a 6.6 mile hike to celebrate the girls’ first Mountain Day. So when I use the pronoun “we” it is in a literal, not Victorian, sense. We all truly did lots of smiling. And yelling.

James will tell you that I was worse than the toddler and infant combined in my protestations.

Don’t you listen to a word he says. I pushed a child out of my lady parts. I am totally allowed to complain about ascending a mountain a mere 8 weeks later.

Although, admittedly, it was worth it for those cider donuts.
