“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2015.”

Sunny: “Mama, take a picture of me with the corn stalks.” Happy to oblige.
Kaki: Our yearly trip to the pumpkin patch, complete with matchy-matchy smocked pumpkin dresses courtesy of Momar. They were the talk of the patch.

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2015.”

Sunny: That smile was cajoled out of her after a morning of attitude and sass. She’s becoming more and more independent and strong-willed, which of course is what I wish for my adult female children – but it makes parenting them now more of a challenge. She’s definitely coming into her own and questioning everything/everyone that gets in her way. A sign of confidence (but also frustration (in the moment) for her mom and dad!).
Kaki: Daddy’s girl. Sleepy after a long day of play and apple consumption.

Sunny: The most magical time of year in Vermont.
Kaki: Soaking up every minute of sunshine and vibrant foliage we can get.

Sunny: Life has been a whirlwind of late. These images capture the feeling quite well.
Kaki: It’s all a blur.

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2015.”

Sunny: Misty fall morning walks in our PJs and fleece. This weekend, amid a bustle of work demands, we squeezed in family naps, (more) apple picking and cider donut consumption, and auditions for “The Nutcracker.” This first grader is going to be a polichinelle, and I think I am decidedly even more excited about this role than she is. I always wanted to play under Mother Ginger’s skirt, and this girl will!
Kaki: And, continuing the tradition, Courtland will be a reindeer in her inaugural production. Her twinkle-toed prancing is truly endearing.

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2015.”

Sunny: Rainy day dress up in her handmade butterfly wings.
Kaki: Taking her make believe very seriously. She made that crown and mask at a book signing this week of a fellow Eph who has written her third children’s novel, Confessions of an Imagery Friend. It is so heartwarming and quirky and delightful and I cannot recommend it enough.

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2015.”

Sunny: Reaction to my request to take her photograph. Someone developed quite a bit of sass this summer.
Kaki: A very different response than her big sister. All smiles, this one. Four is so delightful.
