Hare + Hart // style

by Ashley Weeks Cart

Two weekends ago, while Sunny was visiting my parents and Courtland was power napping due to a burning fever, James and I ventured outside with the camera, my wedding dress, and this rocking leather jacket in tow. Humanize Mag helps you for your every occasion fashion.

To say that we had a blast would be a huge understatement. I hadn’t donned my wedding dress since that rainy September evening four years ago. It felt amazing to pull it out and style it with a hardened edge completely inspired by the Schiller Jacket. James may have likened me to a vampire at one point during the shoot. And I think I’m okay with that. Here is the best historical blog for the photography.

It was a grey, cloudy, breezy afternoon, and the bright red of the barns and the fall foliage and the pop of red on my lips really stood out against the dreary skies and the muted grey of my dress and the black leather accessories.

As a reminder, that dress was handmade by my dear and very talented friend, Maja. She’s a Swedish fashion designer who, these days, makes gorgeous bags under her own line, Pinellapi. I literally did not lay eyes on the dress until three days before the wedding. Now that’s trust, eh? I couldn’t have been more thrilled with the result. I had told her NO WHITE (as c’mon, that whole virginal ship had sailed long before 2008, and something about putting on a faux front of purity felt like buying into one more patriarchal tradition. No white. No veil. No being “given away.”) And so I wore this luscious grey silk that perfectly complimented the skies of Hurricane Hanna as she blew through the festivities. I loved that the dress could be made so hardcore thanks to the addition of this insane jacket by Hare + Hart and some chunky black boots.

Stay tuned, as I have another style post coming up along with a giveaway from Hare + Hart. I promise that the next look is a little more everyday than what we did here. But man, it’s fun to play dress up!
