Upon First Meeting – A Poem
Cold night
Heavy coats
And
Near a lamp post. Walking. Stop.
Giant moon shoes toward The Man,The Legend… an
End
Meander with Z to the ol’ Snacky-B
Yes, that ‘twas the start of a destiny
Worlds collide then away we stride
Overhead, our cosmos have shifted. Fate.
Realigned. The birthing of a binding binary system
Leaving, you remember painful shyness mistaken for arrogance
Doubting significance, I remember your shoes.
And then September
No, primary colors are not an outfit
Definitely wrong. They are the shit.
Impossible together…until a serenade.
Lest napalm tumble walls with a bad attitude toward brick
Offer a heart and a soul, our only witness was Patrick
Victorious, vivacious, vividly quick
Emancipated. Finally. You were my pick.
Years come and go, has it been 10 already?
Of course it’s been more, but our love just as steady.
Up we build.
Forge
Open
Remember
It doesn’t get old
This just gets better.
ALWAYS.
Happy Valentine’s Day, Ashley.
Many thanks to Ashley for the picture, used in last year’s letter to me. No doubt many of you, including Ashley, think I’m a terrible poet but in case you missed the fun part…
