Cookie Decorating

This weekend, while Sunny (and James, as parental escort) headed to a fifth birthday party (how the hell is Sunny going to be turning five this coming year?!?), Courtland and I embarked on a Gingerbread Decorating Bonanza at the girls’ preschool. It’s so rare that she and I get one on one time with her as a (temporary) only-child. While she is more temperamental and exhausting to manage than her big sister, I enjoyed our day together, running errands, decorating cookies, and even doing a bit of Christmas shopping—perhaps considering the idea of buying Christmas cookies online—before snuggling up for a nap. It’s important to be reminded that she’s her own person, independent from Sunny. Funny, and sweet, and opinionated. She’s more than just our second born; she’s our Courtland.
