“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013.”

I spent 8 hours in yesterday’s debilitating heat shooting my first wedding. What an awesome, exhausting experience. It was Kate’s brother’s nuptials, and given that Kate was a bridesmaid, she obviously couldn’t do the honors. I was humbled (and nervous) when asked to step in. Fortunately, Kate was there for moral support. She bore witness to her mentee really being put to the test. Let’s hope I passed with flying colors.

This morning, however, I was less  than inspired when I picked up the camera to snap the girls’ portraits for this week’s post. So I positioned them in the glorious light of our kitchen nook, let their eyes do the talking, and their silly faces shine through. Learning to find and direct light like this to really illuminate the eyes is one of my favorite tricks (and you can learn all about, too, in our CAMERA READY clases. We have some coming up this summer, so don’t miss out!) My how those baby blues sparkle!

Sunny: Four years, two weeks, and one day old.
Kaki: One year, nine months, three weeks, and two days old.
