Blog a la Cart

The fourth.

The three most important women in my life are about to make room for a fourth.

The Whale Slaughter.

This weekend was the baby shower for The Sesame Seed – i.e. Courtland Whaley Cart.

SURPRISE! That’s her name! There was no keeping it off the blog until her birth if I wanted to share any pix from the shower as it was displayed everywhere.

Kimmy and two of my dear friends in Billsville executed the entire affair. Complete with an adorable and colorful whale theme.

One of my favorite whale elements was the precious Whale cake, created by Sara Miller (sister to Kate Miller, the photographer doing the be present Maternity Series).

I know, that is one ridiculously creative family. I’m aching for some of those Miller genes. Primarily so I can bake, and then photograph, cakes for a living. Most delicious plan E-V-E-R.

Since Red Velvet is my favorite kind of cake, the cutting of the whale was dramatic, to say the least.

I present, The Whale Slaughter:

Enthusiastic.

I wish I could bottle her enthusiasm and save it for a rainy day.

Or those moments when I must feign surprise and awe.

I wonder if she’ll be as equal parts thrilled and shocked at the sight of her baby sister?

I have a feeling the shock factor may overwhelm the joy factor. Especially when she witnesses projectile spit up for the first time.
