Can I be this boss when I grow up? No? Okay, fine.

At least my girls can be all hip and now if they ever need eye wear. Trés bombe, indeed.

Mini Rodini {Sunny’s Style, no. 16}

{Pineapple Summer Suit: Mini Rodini}

It’s been far too long since I pulled out a proper SLR camera. This weekend, I unearthed it from the ruins and snapped some shots of life on the farm.

Life on the farm. I don’t think saying that will ever get old.

I’ve had some adorable outfits from Mini Rodini on hand since long before the move, but with life being as chaotic as it was, I had not yet taken the time to snap some pix of the girls rocking their new duds. I don’t think that you’ll be at all surprised to learn that this is a Swedish kid’s clothing company.

Those Swedes sure know what they’re doing when it comes to fashion, for both the big and the small.

Saturday was a positively perfect day for running around outside in this Pineapple Summer Suit, crawling all over the swing set and splashing in the stream. It’s clear that rompers are going to be Sunny’s go-to ensemble this summer. Light, easy, no nonsense. One piece of clothing and you’ve got an entire outfit.

And it doesn’t hurt that pineapple is her favorite fruit.

I couldn’t resist throwing in this adorable, albeit staged, photograph. I’m trying to do a better job of capturing the girls in the moment, not interfering with the play at hand. But sometimes Sunny insists on smiling for the camera. And who am I to resist that cheeky grin.

Redfish Kid’s {Kaki’s Style, no. 9}

{Marley Play Set in Soft Pink: Redfish Kids; Socks: Trumpette}

This baby can now sit up unassisted. She knows how to activate those core muscle like a Pilates star. You should see her boat pose.

I wish I could make similar claims, but alas, postpartum recovery the second time around is proving more of a challenge than after the first. And I’ll never dare touch a jump rope. Ever again. No amount of kegeling can remedy that situation.

ANYWAY!

Now that Kaki can sit up – nay, go from lying down to sitting up ON HER OWN – we were able to snap pictures of her rocking the Marley Play Set from Redfish Kids. Equally as sweet and adorable as the dress Sunny wore a few weeks back.

And I cannot get enough of the puffy pants. Such fun!

My lord she is pale, JAMES.

I’m waiting for her to throw up that right leg in Jane Fonda like style.

Howdy, crawler!

Polkadot What (Sunny’s Style, no 15}

{Leggings: Polkadot What; Shirt: Crew Cuts; Shoes: Pediped; Printables: Oh Happy Day!}

As I’ve mentioned, Sunny is not a pants wearing kind of gal. The only type of leg wear she’ll tolerate is that of the legging or tight variety. If we cover her stems in apparel that is too “loose” fitting, she’ll protest and whine and make claims of wetting her pants to get out of the offending garments.

She’s her Mama’s girl.

It comes as no surprise that when Polkadot What was put on my radar, I was intrigued. Leggings? In playful geometric shapes and patterns? That Sunny could customize?

Yes please!

She sat before the computer screen and carefully made her selection, opting for green stars and solid purple circles.

It appears that she is Happy Superstar.

I mean, just look at that smile! And those superstar dance moves! Polkadot What has her pegged.

If these came in my size, I’d go for the triangles paired with the pink circles. A Confident Creative I am!

These are still a tad big for her, but she delighted in shooting pictures against this loud pink back drop showing off the new addition to her wardrobe.

Also? The polka dot accented packaging in which these leggings arrived was almost as delightful as the pants themselves. I’m a sucker for that kind of attention to detail. Brava, Polkadot What!

So, you like? Well, good! Because you can win a pair for your little one.

Here’s how you can win a pair of Polkadot What leggings. Yay!

The DVF/Gap Kids line. Which sold out in a hot second this morning.

It’s for the best. My wallet and James thank the speed of The Internet cyber shoppers that beat me to the punch.

Redfish Kids {Sunny’s Style, no. 14}

{Dolce Dress: Redfish Kids; White Bloomers; Tights: Oilily; Patent Leather Shoes: Carter’s}

I’m a lover of dresses. I would prefer to rock a dress any day over wearing pants or a skirt. A dress is a complete outfit in one garment. And I adore the simplicity and ease of that. Also? Dresses are fun. At any age.

I’ve passed on this preference to my pre-schooler who loathes pants (she’ll tolerate leggings and tights) and is constantly requesting to wear the twirly party dresses she has hanging in her closet. I mean, why not flounce around the house on a Tuesday morning in your patent leather shoes and party ensemble? You don’t need an excuse to dress up!

After all, in the words of the wise Muffy VanderBear, Life’s one big dress up!

When a friend passed along a link to a Redfish Kids outfit a few weeks back, I was instantly smitten. I loved the East Asian influence of the clothes (you’ll see more of that in Kaki’s outfit from Redfish next week) – and, of course, the array of party dresses. I mean, what little girl doesn’t love a twirly party dress? And I love the heavy cotton fabrics and high quality construction of the dresses. Just take a peek at the collection!

A pretty perfect way to kick off the weekend in style, no? Sunny just wants to twirl and twirl when she dances around the house in this Dolce Dress. It’s her way of welcoming the warm spring weather and celebrating the end of her upset tummy issues!

And guess what?! YOU can win the Redfish Kids Party Dress for a little party girl in your life. Woo hoo!

Sunny’s Style, no. 13

This outfit was my mother’s. There are photographs of her rocking this very ensemble (minus the wild Oilily tights) when she was a 2-year old living in Germany. I know that my Momo, my great-grandmother, the woman who began the Weeks tradition, is somewhere smiling, knowing that this pretty blue dress is on yet another Weeks. You have no idea how much I wish that coat and hat came in my current size.

Kaki’s Style, no. 8

This weekend, Momar and Auntie Kimmy drove out for a visit. Momar came bearing gifts. As always. These gifts included dresses and clothing from not only my childhood, but hers. The sweater and booties pictured on Courtland were my uncle’s, my mom’s brother. Pretty crazy, huh? What’s even crazier is that when my uncle was Courtland’s age, my mom’s family was living in Indonesia. Which means that this little sweater made it back across the Pacific and into my Grammy and then mother’s attic to then be bestowed upon my second born over a half century later.

Courtland’s impressed. You should be, too.

I think that you can all see where my knitting obsession originates. This is the work of my Grammy, the woman who taught me to knit as a child. It’s genetic.

The knit cowboy booties are particularly nausea-inducing in their cuteness. Giddy up!

Pink Chicken

{Dresses: Pink Chicken; Sunny’s red boots: Italian hand-me-downs; Kaki’s red shoes: Robeeze; Tights: Oilily}

Watch out! The sisters are sharing a style section! They received these adorable Pink Chicken dresses as gifts from a dear friend’s mama when Courtland was born, and I’m completely smitten. I love wild, colorful garments on my children, especially when paired with equally wild and colorful knit tights. Add in some red shoes and BAM! I’m seething with jealousy (in a totally maternal and loving way, of course).

I mean, seriously, these red leather boots that were Auntie Kimmy’s as a girl are KILLING IT! Moments like this make me exceedingly grateful for my mother’s packrat-like tendencies.

Soft Clothing {Sunny’s Style, no. 11}

Sunny is obsessed with this red dress. She requests to wear it all. the. time. It’s with many thanks to Soft Clothing that it is now a part of her wardrobe. You can find the Soft Party Dress here in a variety of colors.

To keep it cozy during the winter months, I’ve paired it with a wool turtle neck from my toddlerhood. I admit – I totally love the look. Especially paired with her adorable lady bug shoes that were a Christmas gift from her Ghillie (James’ mom).

{Dress & Undies: Soft Clothing; Wool sweater: Hand-me-down of mine from France; Ladybug shoes: Gift from Ghillie}

Soft Clothing is a particularly brilliant kid’s clothing company as all of their clothing is designed with the needs of all children in mind, including those with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD, and tactile defensiveness/sensitivity. They use flat seaming and seamless construction for extra comfort, 100% of the softest combed cotton and specially developed Soft Sensory Blends, wide collars, encased elastic waistbands, printed labels (tagless), custom fits, and much more.

Genius no?

The seamless undies in particular are super comfortable, and now that Sunny is confidently potty-trained, she can rock ‘em with pride.

And this little cardigan is quite the useful item, especially considering Sunny’s general aversion to any kind of sweater, cardigan or extra layer. Again, thank you Soft Clothing for your clever kid-happy garment construction. Brava!

{Leggings: Carters; Cardigan: Soft Clothing; Headband: Carters}

So you’d like to win three-pack of seamless undies for your little one? Of course you do! Here’s how you can win a 3-pack of organic, seamless underwear. Yay!

• visit Soft Clothing.

• leave a comment below telling me about what articles of clothing bothered you as a kid. I know I hated wearing big, scratchy wool sweaters. I would tell my mom that they were “humpfy” and that I didn’t want to wear them. Wouldn’t it have been nice if Soft was around during my childhood?!
