Last Sunday I snapped some pix of Sunny disguised in a mound of bedding.
We know. We have an astounding amount of bedding for a household consisting of only two adult sized beds.
MOVING ON!
In the wake of James’ illness (which he had again this Saturday, ugh…) I wanted to impose some productivity on the weekend and accomplish this much-needed organizational task.
Fortunately, when it comes to linens, James is an organizational master.
He’s the sexiest fitted bed sheet folder I know…
And excel-sheet maker…
Apparently, when it comes to all things sheets, he’s a genius.
These photos garnered quite the response on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Many people requested a blow-by-blow video of how to fold a fitted sheet so that it could be mistaken as a flat sheet.
Well, ask, and ye shall receive!
The key tools here are your pointer fingers. You use those two appendages to find the proper corners of the fitted sheet and fold the part of the sheet that hugs the sides of the bed in on itself.
Here’s a more thorough video showcasing the process:
And may I recommend the brilliant tip of storing your bedding in one of the pillows of the set? I may! This is a trick that my mother-in-law taught James, and it is a brilliant way to keep all of the bedding in one place.
James suggested attaching index cards to each pillow case describing the contents within. We had an abundance of clothespins available and used those as fasteners.
We then stacked all the bedding in big tupperware bins and affixed detailed excel sheets to the top of each bin outlining the bedding within.
Man, I love that James is particularly OCD when it comes to linens. I feel so organized (for once).
So, questions? Do you think you too can now fold a fitted sheet a la a flat sheet? Turning this…
Into this…

This. I wish more Republicans, nay, I wish more PEOPLE, could hear this, believe this, and speak this.
Our friends are not only brilliant and talented, they are also hilarious.
Thanks to this post, this “little bundle of health” arrived in the mail today…
This came from the woman who introduced me and James back in 2003. She and James are BFFifles and share the same warped, quirky sense of humor. I should have known the moment that the weenie maker was unveiled that it was the work of a one Courtney Adkinson. Only she and James would unite in this odd, ridiculous love of “Nostalgia Electrics.”
True story: My first “date” with James was an afternoon spent watching Super Troopers with James and Courtney, their all time favorite movie. A “film” (a term I use loosely) that I had yet to experience but have now suffered through watched on many, many occasions. The two of them spent the entire movie quoting every line verbatim. I sat awkwardly on the bed wondering what the hell I was getting myself into.
Turns out, it was a lifetime of pure hilarity.
Someone turns 5 months old tomorrow and she’s a giggle machine, especially if you say “BOH!” with just the right deep timbre.
I’m pretty obsessed with those two little girls. Okay, A LOT obsessed. Siblings are awesome. And living petri dishes. I can practically see the germs jumping from Sunny’s pre-school paws to Kaki’s baby face.
Eh well, the kid’s gonna have a hearty immune system thanks to her big sister.
Maja is the very talented, very crazy, very magnificent Swedish bombshell that designed my wedding dress. She and I are kindred spirits. And, yes, I trust her impeccable taste so very much that I had her design and make my wedding dress from across the Atlantic. I, in California. She, in Sweden.
I saw the dress for the first time three days before the actual wedding.
As Dory would say, “Trust. It’s what friends do.”
And yes, that would be Finding Nemo I’m quoting. Do I not live with a two and a half year old?
Anyway, since I’m biffles with a fashion designer, I’m fortunate to receive a package of goodies designed by her hands around this time of year. Everything from dresses, to bags, to tops, to scarves have found their way into my wardrobe thanks to Maja and her line PINELLAPI (she’s doing the bag thing in a big and awesome way right now).
She freelances for H&M and the Scandanavian children’s clothing company, moonkids. In her package that arrived yesterday, two beanies for the girls were tucked inside. While I went out to dinner with a friend, James made a thank you video for Maja. Because when we’re overwhelmed with things to do, he and I tend to turn to timesucks like photography and video to really procrastinate the actual work at hand that must be done.
I guess you could call me and Jamesy kindred spirits, too.
This video is priceless for so many reasons, not the least of which is Addison, sans culottes, calling James, James. I particularly love her pronunciation of the name.
I’ve rewound the moment when she sternly declares, “I get to call you James” at least a hundred times. Ah-mazing.
