Evenings like yesterday remind you why you do this wild, wonderful thing called parenthood. It was such fun watching our girls perform with loved ones by our side. Momar and Doda and Auntie Kimmy drove out for the performance, and we brought along Fairy Godsister Brie for her inaugural Nutcracker experience. Sunny was so focused and serious as she performed her dance – lots of choreography had her perfectionist, firstborn personality on high alert. She told me she had butterflies in her stomach and that she was shaking before she emerged from Mother Ginger’s skirt, but she danced wonderfully. And Courtland was happy as a clam on stage – though her role was to mostly look adorable and do very little dance-wise. My cheeks hurt from grinning so intensely.

^^Thanks to our pediatrician serving as a backstage parent, we have a few snaps of the girls before they headed on stage.^^

^^Our doctor told us that Courtland wasn’t upset in this picture, the girls were just being very sweet and affectionate with one another before the performance. Talk about making a mother’s heart melt!^^

It was a special night, indeed. Here’s a look at last year’s experience.
