“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014.”

I’ve got a back log of photos for weeks 22, 23 and 24, but I needed to get myself back on track. It’s been a long week of recovering from the intensity of recent weeks, and I have a number of clients’ photos still waiting to be processed and so many images and videos and words on hold for this space. Yesterday, despite the ever-growing TO DO list, I took the day off work and we went to Sunny’s gymnastics class as a family for Observation Day, ate slices of pizza in the local play park, dug up perennial flowers from a friend’s garden (she’s re-landscaping) and re-planted the blooms all around our little farm. James and I were exhausted but satisfied by day’s end. As I filled old flower pots with piles of dirt and dug into the ground for the roots and promise of years of blossoms to come, I couldn’t help but reflect, “I am officially my mother’s daughter.”

Sunny: Our budding gymnast.
Kaki: Pizza in a tunnel. Life is good.
