The Friday after Thanksgiving we hosted Pie Breakfast. I have my friend Cortney to thank for this genius idea. She grew up in a neighborhood where a family down the street used to host such an occasion, and I’ve been dreaming of implementing one myself.

This was the year!

We invited a small group, including our beloved neighbors and their family, and some dear friends who we knew would be low maintenance and easy to entertain. I used this Paperless Post invite.

^^Drinks included mimosas, pink champagne with pomegranates, and hot cider (that we pressed from our backyard apples!) with rum. We filled a pretty water dispenser with fresh rosemary and pomegranate seeds, which was not only festive but crazy delicious! I highly recommend you give it a try.^^

^^I made my signature Bourbon Pumpkin Cheesecake. This recipe is always a hit.^^

^^We readied the coffee, and waited for pies to descend.^^

^^Kimmy made up a bowl of fresh whipped cream, and we served her sausage stuffing and a Fluffy Egg Casserole (another Ulmer family favorite) to add some savory to all that sweet. Our neighbors brought pizza PIE, which added to the savory pool. Very clever. Once the party got going, I put down the camera, but it was a really fun way to spend time with friends and extend the Thanksgiving spirit. This is definitely a new Cartwheel Farm tradition.^^
