There she is!

As promised, more documentation of Courtland and her ever-epic Mohawk.

Also, I’m so jealous of the camera on the new iPhone, I’m plotting to steal it away from James. Sunny has mastered this technique, so I’m studying her moves carefully.

The phone came as a belated birthday present. James eagerly awaited its arrival last Friday, and he hasn’t lifted his head from the screen since. I now hear him conversing with the phone while he entertains himself in the bathroom.

The future is weird. But it produced these images. So also kind of awesome.

Berkshire Weekend Redux

Just another perfect fall weekend. Albeit a bit colder and greyer. But that just made the hot cider all the more appealing.

And yes, we do have a second child. We swear. We realize that she is only represented as a red sack strapped across James’ chest. We’re going to remedy this problem so that she can’t blame us in therapy years from now for failing to so thoroughly document her babyhood. Instead, she can tell her therapist that her mother ruined her life by so thoroughly documenting it and sharing it for the whole wide Internet to see.

Also, it is disturbing the number of people that are shocked by the fact that James is carrying a baby, not just some strange, red European carry-all, on his chest. Genuine surprise. I ask you, do they honestly think that a man wearing Crocs and Carhartts is trying to make some kind of fashion forward statement? What else would be in that red pack? A football?

I suppose it could be considered a fanny pack on steroids. A fanny pack for the Millenials!

Sunny’s Style, no. 3

Addison’s Fairy Godmother is responsible for this outfit. And boy is it a favorite. The fact that it’s her favorite color (BLUE!) and super soft cotton makes it a frequent wardrobe selection. That it’s also super stylish is just icing on the cake.

Tubular Friendship Bracelets

My line-up of DIY projects was put on hold last week when a friend’s grandfather passed away. She asked if I could make her and her family a series of red, tubular embroidery thread bracelets to wear during the mourning period. And so back into the friendship-making mindset I went!

Given that this woman not only threw me a whale of a baby shower, sewed the cover for the girls’ loveseat, knit Sunny the most adorable sock monkey stuffed animal, and hemmed fabric for a project I will unveil in the coming weeks, I dove right in. Since I spend up to four hours a day breastfeeding Courtland, I was fortunate to have a pattern in mind that was easy to do with baby strapped to boob. I used only red thread, but you could easily mix it up with an array of multi-colored strands for an interesting effect.

While certainly a sad reason to engage in this project, I am happy that a little tutorial could come from it.
