Inspiration

by Ashley Weeks Cart

You’ve probably noticed my recent obsession with stop motion video. It’s inspired me to use my camera in new ways, to experiment, to pick up the camera daily, to test out new viewpoints, and capture the world differently. It’s lit the fire under me and James to finally undertake a project we’ve talked about doing in every home we’ve ever lived in together (that would be three). We’ve set our tripod up outside, and every morning around 8am we snap a photo of the mountains. In 365 days, we’ll be able to piece together a stop motion video of a year in the Berkshires. I can’t wait to see the result. It’ll be far more interesting and diverse due to the dramatic seasons here than it would have been had we done it on our beach in Southern California.

Anyway, because I’ve been writing less and doing more visual experiments and crafts (just today I reupholstered all of our dining room chairs in a crazy quilt I rescued from an antique shop over four years ago) – I wanted to share with you some visual inspiration that’s been fueling me of late.
